TEC Plus 460 cc Ti Matrix Driver Men’s (Right-Handed) Overviews

The TEC Plus Men’s Ti Matrix 425cc Driver features a deep face and maximum C.O.R. (coefficient of restitution) design. C.O.R. is a measure of how efficiently energy, in the form of velocity, is transferred between the ball and the club head. Essentially, a maximum C.O.R. means that the club head has the largest, USGA-legal “spring-like” effect. The titanium matrix construction is perfect for long shots off the tee. The graphite shaft is strong and stable, and the grip means the club will stay securely in your hand. This right-handed club delivers great distance and a low trajectory, and is great choice for any amateur looking for an affordable driver.

I’ve played several rounds with this club, so I now feel competent to review it. I’m a hacker (~100 per round), and my old driver was an old smaller headed Big Bertha Steelhead. I could hit it far, but I sprayed all over, left and right. It took a session at the range to get used to the TEC. It’s a little heavier than some big-headed clubs, so for me, a stiff shaft might have been better than the regular stiffness that this club has. Also, I hit pretty high, so 10 degree loft might have been better for me. Despite that, I now hit the ball longer and more consistently. With the TEC, I either hit the ball straight or slice it. The hook is now totally out of play. So I can adjust my aim and fire away without fear of the ball going left. I’m VERY happy with how I play with the TEC. And for the price, I’m ecstatic.

Other info. This club is made in China, if that’s an issue for you. Also, I’d recommend getting a cover for it. I’ve only played a few times, and I already notice a paint chip where I probably banged it on another club in the bag.

Golf Tips – Hit The Driver 300+ Yards!!!

March 21st, 2010

www.rdbgolftips.com – Download this tip FREE on Ron’s site. This is the only time you hang back on your back foot while striking the ball…… Ron’s Passive Golf Method is about rotating the core of your body and following the eye line through the swing. This is the same swing method Tiger Woods has been talking about converting to due to the stress of his heavy tourqing. This is also the same swing that Ana Sorenstam has been using for the last few years. Yes, rotating the head with the turn of the right shoulder along with a passive grip as well as a loaded left side (irons and fairway woods) is what Ron del Barrios Passive golf swing is all about. Golf Tips – How to Increase Driver Distance

February 27th, 2010

Let’s face it. What do we all want? What do we all crave? It’s to put that little golf ball as far down the fairway as possible. If you were given a choice between increasing your distance off the tee by 30 yards, or decreasing your handicap by 4 points, which would you choose? You should choose to better your handicap, but would you? Of course not! You want to pound it past your playing partners off the box, plain and simple. Well…ok…if that is your answer, here are a couple tips to help you get those extra yards.

WIDEN YOUR STANCE

You have read to keep your feet about shoulder width apart when addressing the ball with your driver. That’s fine, but if you want the extra yards, you need to increase your swing arc. In order to do that, you need to make your stance big and wide. Now, don’t go overboard. If you do, you will limit your turn and lose distance along with some accuracy. A little beyond shoulder width will do.

MOVE THE BALL FORWARD

Have someone help you out with this one. Most people have no idea how far back the ball actually is in their stance. The ball should be just inside your left heel. For some reason, a lot of people think the ball is properly placed inside the left heel, but it is actually 3-6 inches (or more) back. Don’t ask me why this is……it just is. Have a friend check out your ball placement. You will be surprised what they tell you. At this point, don’t fight it. It will be a little uncomfortable to begin with, but just do it. After a session on the range, you will get more comfortable.

I won’t try to fill your brain with too much at this point. When it comes to the golf swing, a small change can make a huge difference so let’s take this slow. Try these tips out for a couple weeks. If they help, great! If not, there are more to come. Oh one more thing. Golf is a game so…HAVE FUN!

Golf Driver Reviews – Who is Right?

January 15th, 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

You will find an incredible amount of information about golf drivers on the internet. Some reviews are financially motivated, and some are not. Here’s how to find the perfect driver for you, no matter who you are.

The technology of materials and golf have come a long way in the last 20 years. If you have not looked for a driver in even 4 or 5 years, you will be amazed at how large and technologically advanced most drivers are today. It can be quite overwhelming if you do not know the basics. By becoming educated, you will be able to pick out the perfect driver for you, and forgo the hype put out by the internet and golf pros, who all want you to buy their driver at the steepest price.

First, and foremost, you must consider the size of the driver. The most common size you will see on the market today is the USGA limit of 460cc of volume. This is a very large clubhead and is a direct response to the large-scale availability of titanium. Titanium is much lighter and stronger than steel, and allows the manufacturer to create in incredibly large clubhead with a very small amount of weight.

The next thing to ponder is the launch angle. This is the angle in which the golf ball takes off from the club at impact. Different golfers have different types of swings, tee-positions, body shapes, etc., and each requires a different launch angle. Usually professional golfers prefer lower loft angles of 9 degrees (or sometimes less) to keep the ball flying low and long. If you’ve been golfing for awhile, you should strongly consider a club with a loft angle between 9 and 11 degrees. If you’re just starting out, you should look at one higher than 11 degrees.

These are just 2 of the many aspects of choosing a driver that you need to take into consideration the next time you go shopping for one. Remember: expensive is not always better.

Driver Golf Swing – Make Your Driver Golf Swing Go Further

January 5th, 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Ask anyone who plays golf what one of the trickiest parts of the game is and they will tell you that it is getting the driver golf swing right. Doing so can signal the start of a very good hole but doing it wrong can add even more shots onto your par which is something that you do not want to happen.

So what is the secret to getting that all important driver golf swing right every time? The answer is by paying attention to what you are doing and learning from your mistakes. Too many people falsely believe that they should approach the ball quickly and take aim and hit the ball powering down as hard as they can – however this will not equate to a good driver golf swing. Hitting the ball as hard as you can and with no thought or preparation usually leads to shots that either miss, hit the ball off centre or end up with you just making divots in the ground.

Instead you should take your time and approach the ball with care and concentration, making sure that you are stood comfortably and firmly with your feet apart and knees slightly bent. Then perform the backswing keeping your eyes on the ball and with your head aligned with your spine. Draw back the club and swing rotating your hips to ensure that you are really swinging into the ball, then strike the ball and follow the shot through so that the club makes a clean arc in the air.

Doing this will improve your driver golf swing and ensure that you are hitting the ball cleanly without over balancing or attempting to hit the ball too hard. When playing golf it is always best to try to relax and focus on the ball, blocking out distractions around you.
