Golf training aids have become vastly popular with golfers everywhere. Golfers of all ages and skill levels are constantly looking for ways to help them improve their scores and reduce their handicaps.

The playing professionals have the talent and coaching to help them hit massive drives off the tee straight down the fairway, or consistently drop putt after putt in the hole. But, for the average golfer, we have to use a variety of proven training aids to help us lower our scores.

All of the TV and magazine ads for golf training aids can be quite overwhelming for the average person looking to improve their golf game. Training aids come in every form and fashion, from the Medicus Dual Hinge Driver, to Footjoy socks to help keep your feet comfortable.

But don’t fret, it’s really not as overwhelming as it appears. Although you may be tempted to buy every golf training aid in sight, it’s not necessary or practical, unless of course money is no object. The more prudent option would be to look at your overall golf game and decide what training aids would benefit your particular golf game.

For example, if you’re driving the golf ball long and straight but you’re having problems with your chipping, you may want to purchase a chipping aid. A product like the Chip Mate Net, or Chip-N-Pitch will help you achieve much better accuracy.

If you’re having problems driving the golf ball and keeping it in the fairway, consider the Medicus Dual Hinge Driver. This tool works great for those who may be slicing the golf ball.

There are also many PGA pros who endorse various golf training aids as well. Most of these products are of very high quality and will provide the needed help for your golf game.

Vijay Singh, the winner of several of golf‘s majors, advertises and uses the Speed Stik. This training device is a golf shaft that measures your swing speed and helps you quicken your swing speed. This in turn will allow you to improve the distance of your drives. Ernie Els, another winner on the PGA tour, uses the Tempotimer. This device wraps around your golf club and will also improve your golf swing.

If you’re having difficulty with your entire golf swing, whether off the tee or near the green, you might want to consider looking at the 8 Board. This particular training aid will help optimize the swing plane for your individual stroke.

While various PGA playing pros advertise golf training aids, you may want to consider talking with the golf teaching pros in your area. They use several different training aids on a daily basis as part of their profession. These teaching pros are an excellent source for advice on what may work for your particular need and what may not.

Several putting aids are also available such as the Eyeline Putting Laser, as well as Path Pro. These are a couple of golf training aids that are endorsed by P.G.A. Professionals of America. Their job is to find the best training aids available for their students.

Golf equipment is not the only training aids available. There are also fitness routines, mental and physical programs and other methods of building the body and mind to improve your golf game. These are also considered to be golf training aids. Tiger Woods is big on physical fitness. He has helped lead the way in golf fitness for the past 10 years.

The golf training aids industry is huge. Several billions of dollars are spent each and every year in this industry. The Internet has been immensely popular as an advertising medium for training aids. Websites are everywhere that sell all sorts of golf aids.

So, if you’re looking to improve your golf game and lower your scores, then take a good look at all of the various training aids available. Get one that suits your needs and your game. You’ll be glad you did!

Golf Ball Spin

July 20th, 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If you are like me, you are in awe when watching professional golfers hit the ball past the pin, and somehow they are able to spin that thing right back close to the hole, and heck, sometimes in the hole.

Getting that ball to spin back can be a tricky thing to do, but even if you can learn how to at least stop the ball where it lands, you will see those shots fall of the scorecard in a hurry. This technique is primarily use in green approach shots where there is the possibility of rolling off into a hazard like sand or water.

Let’s talk about some helpful tips around getting that golf ball to stick. First try standing closer in your stance, a little narrower then shoulder width. Also stand with the ball a little more off the back foot and you’ll need a 60 degree wedge with clean grooves. Now the key is to hit down on the ball pinching it out from the grass hitting the ball first while the grooves grip the ball and out get the backspin effect. You’ll need to follow through your golf swing as your normally would.

Being able to spin or stop the ball gives puts a little something extra in your toolkit. When your able to do this you can now take shots that you wouldn’t have been able to manage before, at least without losing a ball or landing in the beach. By using this ball stopping or spinning tactic your also able to get snug that golf ball right up to the in less than 3 feet away which greatly increases your chances of sinking that put.

Having your golf balls land and stop where you want them to is a unique skill that with practice anyone can manage. When you’re out on the golf course you’ll notice you’ll get lots of attention if you’re one of the few that can make that ball stop or spin back when the time is right. Bear in mind I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again this is a tough shot to master but like with most shots practice is key. Get out to the range and practice this shot and you’ll take strokes off your game.

Golf Training to Increase Club Head Speed

March 10th, 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Golf training with golf exercises and golf fitness training is a key to increased driving distance off the tee. The process by which the golfer can increase club head speed is two-fold. Step number one is increasing the efficiency at which the biomechanics of the golf swing are executed. Increased efficiency in the biomechanics of the golf swing will allow a greater percentage of the kinetic energy developed within the golf swing to be transferred into the club head. Thus allowing for increased club head speeds at impact.

The second process by which the golfer can improve how far tee shots travels is through developing the power outputs of the body. We must keep in mind it is the physical body executing the golf swing, and improvement in key areas of the body can increase the potential ball speed of your tee shots. One of these key components is the power outputs of your body.

Power can be defined as the ability to generate the greatest amount of force in a short amount of time. If the golfer increases the ability of his or her muscles to generate power, this can then positively impact the ability to drive the golf ball farther. The process by which the golfer can achieve this outcome is through the implementation of power drills within a comprehensive golf fitness program. Such exercises over time will enhance the ability of the golfer’s muscles to develop increased power within the biomechanics of the golf swing.

The golfer must keep in mind power exercises are not the only type of training beneficial to the golf swing. Execution of the golf swing does require specified levels of flexibility, balance, and muscular strength to execute properly. It is only with the development of these physical components as well as with power training can the full benefit of such exercises be seen in improved clubhead speed on the tee box.

Common power training drills I utilize with my professional golfer’s within a comprehensive golf fitness program are; medicine ball side throws, reverse medicine ball side throws, rotational chest passes, and tubing rotations. All of these exercises develop the power component of the body’s muscles and will benefit the golfer over time.

Remember club head speed is contingent upon both the efficiency at which the biomechanics of the swing are executed, and the ability of the body to generate power. Both components are required in order to increase the distance of you tee shots. The utilization of golf training in the form of golf exercises and golf fitness programs can benefit you on the physical side of developing more club head speed.

Golf Training Tips – Hit the Golf Ball Further Every Time

February 14th, 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

We want and sometimes need to hit the golf ball a distance, right.

So you want to be able to hit your golf ball a long way.

Take a golfer, any golfer and if you have a couple of hours ask them how they are hitting the ball.

” I’m hitting my drivers great but my long iron play absolutely sucks!”

Ask the same golfer the same question a week later.

“I’m stiffing my long irons like a pro, but I’m hitting my woods like a bum”

As golfers we all want to improve our long game, so we have to sometimes analyse why certain things keep happening and why we are inconsistent.

The problem with golf is we use so many different tools to play the game, add to this each club requires a slightly different approach so its no wonder we can get a little confused.

In terms of hitting the ball further think of it in this way, if you can sweep the ball off the tee with your drivers and hit down on the ball with your long irons you are more than half way to being a good distance player. The key is to remember to try and alternate between these two fundamental concepts and you will hit the ball further.

Drivers are usually the longest clubs in your bag (unless you’re using a long putter). This means you are standing further away from the ball, which has the effect of making your swing more rounded.

The real secret to lowering your score is to remember what a driver is for. It is designed to hit the golf ball a long way in order to put it in a position for your next shot. Drivers do not have much loft and so are teed up in such a way as to encourage you to sweep the ball off the tee for maximum launch angle and distance.

Driving in golf can sometimes be overly “macho” and land us in trouble, it isn’t really about showing the guys how far you can smack a golf ball (although that is fun) its about hitting the ball as far as possible, as accurately as possible.

There is an old saying in golf that “The woods are full of long drivers”, I guess that’s probably true, but it should probably read, “The woods are full of wayward long drivers”.

It is the combination of distance and accuracy that truly lowers our scores and our handicaps.

If you are serious about adding 50 yards to your drives, keeping the ball on the fairway and lowering your handicap you need to know the insider secrets scratch players and pro’s aren’t sharing with us.

Golf Gloves Training Aids

December 20th, 2009

Golf training aids come in all different forms. You can even purchase golf gloves training aids. These help you to know exactly how to grip and hold your club for you to develop that smooth, consistent, and powerful swing. A good golf grip is a cornerstone of your golf game. If you do not have a correct grip on the golf club, then your golf game will suffer for it.

A Powerglove connects to the golf club with a Velcro strap so you will not grip it incorrectly and it also helps you to swing while keeping the clubface straight so it will hit the ball correctly. It also keeps your hand from opening up on the backswing, which can cause you to hit the ball wrong.

Golf teaching gloves have perfect grip markings on the gloves, which show you exactly where the golf club should be placed for the best grip possible. A good grip will ensure that you get the power and consistency that you need in your shot for straight shots that go the distance. One of the most important fundamentals is a good grip.

There are many different golf glove training aids available. The key is to find one that addresses your needs. You will want to research your options on the internet, in magazines, in books, or ask a golf club professional. Golf Training Aids Really Do Help

December 6th, 2009

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If your golf game needs a little fine tuning, a golf training aid might just be the answer. It doesn’t matter if you are just starting out, or if you have been playing for years, you can find a training aid for the part of your game that needs work. There are very affordable devices that specialize on all aspects of the game, whether it is putting, driving, chipping or improving your swing. Some golf pro shops do sell training aids, but the majority of them all sold over the internet because of the ability to compare prices. Online auction sites are an excellent resource for locating used devices for a lot less than retail. The sellers on these auction sites have usually gotten all they can out of the training aid and are willing to let go of it for a lot less than they paid for it.

Professional golfers are known for being able to fully extend their lead arm during the swing process. If you are having problems with your elbow breaking down during a golf swing, there is a golf training aid called the Elbow Tac-Tic that can help you correct this problem. It is basically an hinged elbow brace that fits over the upper and lower arm. If your elbow were to break down during the swing, the device will make a clicking sound to alert you of this. It is very comfortable and can be worn whether you are hitting balls on the driving range or out playing a round of golf. You will make small adjustments to your swing every time you hear the clicking sound the elbow tac-tic makes. Before long, you will no longer need to wear the device because you will have corrected the swing flaw by swinging naturally with your lead arm. You’ll then have to decide whether to keep it in case your swing starts breaking down again or selling it to recoup some of your money.

If your short game needs working on there are some things, thanks to modern technology, that can assist you. A variable shaft weight wedge is new on the market. It has an adjustable shaft to head weight ratio and can duplicate the arc in which you are attempting to strike the ball. Getting out of the rough or a bunker has never been easier. With available angles of 52, 56, and 60 degrees, it will have you hitting nice, arcing shots all over the golf course. You will be able to see a big change in your short game by the scores you will be posting. Once you are really comfortable with this wedge, you’ll confidently be chipping like a pro. To really get the hang of the variable weight ratio, try it out on the driving range to test your length and accuracy. Experiment with all of the different angles, if you can. Just a slight change in the angle can have profound effects on your accuracy and the arc of the shot.

As you can see, a golf training aid just might be the golden ticket for your game. There are literally thousands of these devices to choose from, not just the two mentioned here. The elbow tac-tic costs about forty dollars while the variable weight wedge can be purchased for around one hundred dollars. The best place to find these items is usually online, since you’ll have the ability to compare prices right from home. All you have to do is identify the weakest part of your golf game, and then find the golf training aid designed to help correct that weakness. Once you do, your scores will slowly start coming down while your game steadily improves.
